School Time

School has definitely begun! Back to our routines, a bit of an adjustment at first, though things are doing just fine now! Mason (3) and Jaxon (1) both go to Spartan Station at Murray High they love it there.

Mason has turned into a real smarty he can write his name, knows the numbers up to 10, and recognizes lots of the letters! We've also been practicing a song that teaches him the sounds of the letters.

Jaxon has been adjusting to the daycare pretty well, he still cries when I drop him off, but knowing that his favorite buddy Matt, one of the teachers, will be there at eight eases my mind a bit. He, as well as Andy and I, have been loving his new found freedom of walking, following
Mason, Kitty, and Marshall around the house is his new favorite entertainment!

Andy, still at Murray High, is back to his busy fall schedule coaching golf and teaching just math this year! He's just about finished with the boys golf season and will coach girls golf in the spring. Now most of us would have a difficult time calling that work! But I think the new schedule of teaching only math makes up for all the golf time.

As for me, I have a new-found joy in teaching. I have always loved my job, but have recently made a switch in districts and have moved to a different school, Brookwood Elementary. Brookwood is quite an opposite extreme of where I had been before. I am teaching morning kindergarten and my schedule is not so restricted and leaves some time for me to teach enjoyable things like the 5 senses, colors, & feelings to begin with. Not to mention this job is much closer to home, yahoo! No more hour long commutes in the winter!

Of course now that it's football season, we are back out cheering for the Utes in the north end zone of the Rice Eccles Stadium. Mason and Jaxon have gone to a couple tailgates and a game too, we are building a couple of little ultimate Ute fans! Another recent outing we had was to the Utah State Fair! It was just as I remembered it as a kid! It was so stinking hot, but we managed to get some giggly laughs out of both of the boys along with some real smiles with the excitement of the animals and the rides and we also ended up with a couple of sleepyheads by evening!

SUMMER'S here. . . just in time

Oh my a lot has happened in the last four months! So where should I begin? Mason Dude turned 3 requesting a rocket ship birthday cake of course. Mason loves spaceships, rocketships, and I'm pretty sure he'll be the first astronaut to touchdown on Mars, if he has it his way that is!Little Jaxon Man turned 1, mom and dad made him his own smash cake. He's not quite walking but I'm sure in good time he'll get it! He's got about 10 teeth with others on the way.

We had a birthday party for both with friends and family, it was snowing that evening so it was definitely an inside party, but turned out to be great fun.

Easter was eggcellent we were invited to an Easter Egg hunt and Mason thought he was in heaven with all the treats that followed!
I started working full time in February at Gourley teaching full day kindergarten, which has been so much fun, you even get time for rest time! Jaxon did great adjusting to the schedule, Mason had to adjust to naps and rest time at school rather than at home on his own comfy bed, but he did great and just loves Spartan Station! But all this adjusting just in time for another change, SUMMER!

I will be going to work for Canyons School District this fall, as a half day morning kindergarten teacher, and just in time to get ready for Mason to go to school in Canyons District which is just 2 short years away! Teaching at Gourley has taught me a lot about managing a classroom, learning how to be an effective teacher, as well as how to get those struggling learners to par. I just hope I can keep up with the parents' expectations at Brookwood!

Andy has been teaching math, ceramics, and coached girls golf this spring! And after a bit of a struggle with the teaching positions available and an identity crisis as a teacher has found he still loves math and the administration has found a way to keep him on as a math teacher at Murray. That's not to say he won't miss ceramics though!

Well SUMMER is officially here although it certainly doesn't quite feel like summer. We had our first family camping trip to Lava Hot Springs, Idaho and it didn't hesitate to rain at camp for at least 8 hours straight, luckily the warm water at the water park made for great swimming, yes even in the rain, which we all enjoyed for a couple hours. But the weather cleared up just in time for us to head home and for Andy and I to head out of town.
Andy and I have been married for 8 whole years now and have been together for 14! We took a much needed trip, without the kiddos (thanks to some wonderful granparents!) to Las Vegas and had a blast kicking back at the pool and enjoying ourselves in the hundred degree heat!

Figured I'd better update you all since I have slacked off since I've been working full time, sorry about that.

St. Patrick's Day Parade

Although it rained, we tried to stick it out! Almost two hours later the parade was still going and it was starting to snow so we decided to call it quits! It was still fun though!

My How Time Flies

My goodness how time flies!

Mason is almost 3 he is such a wonderfully fun and smart boy who is kind and loves his little brother. I can't believe he will be 3 although he's certainly learning a lot he can count to 13, sing the ABCs, and recognizes about 12 capital letters! Mason loves spaceships, baseball, and I think he is determined to be the first to travel to Mars. He also loves to play with and entertain his baby Jaxon, who is almost 1!

Jaxon's first two teeth popped through just in the last week and there are more to come soon! He still has yet to crawl, but happily rolls around to get just about anywhere he wants, including to the cat so he can pull her tail and eat her hair! I think the cat loves it as much as he does, no seriously. Jaxon has a great appetite and usually eats all that we offer unless he decides to blow bubbles in which case mom and dad aren't to happy!

Andy is teaching and was glad to spend time at Nancy's cabin at Soldier Creek over the winter break with his brother and friends. He is loving the snowmobiles that he and Eric bought last winter! In a few short months he will be back to coaching girls golf at Murray High School, the perfect kick off for spring!

Last but not least myself. I couldn't believe break was over although it was good to return to work and to get back into our routine of things. I love helping my students become better readers and can't wait to see their benchmark scores. I had a great break though spending time with both sides of the family as well as time at the cabin with good friends to bring in the New Year!

2009 was an amazing year of priceless time spent with family and friends as we also celebrated the miraculous arrival of our Little Jaxon who has brought much laughter and joy to our family. I can't wait to see what 2010 brings with our two busy boys and a marriage in the family on the horizon!
Happy New Year all!

Aaah, the Magic of Christmas!

Even if their favorite toy is the doggy toy!

3. . .2. . .1. . .and BLAST OFF!

The children were nestled all snug in their beds, while visions of sugarplums danced in their heads.
